In the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, the stars are famous not only for their performing prowess, but for their physical appearance as well. In fact, many of them are paid celebrity endorsers for beauty products because their appearance is a big part of their fame. Anyone would expect them to have smooth skin and perfect complexions. However, it may surprise quite a few of us to discover that the stars suffer from skin problems, too. Celebrities with acne abound, and here are some of them.
One prominent example of celebrities with acne is the former pop princess Britney Spears. Even when she was still single, she was photographed multiple times showing her acne skin problems. During her pregnancy, she not only gained lots of weight, but her acne resurfaced anew and paparazzi photographs give evidence of this. America's sweetheart Cameron Diaz is also among those celebrities with acne. Her skin problems may have been overshadowed by her dazzling smile, but on high definition television, you'll see the evidence left behind by the pimples she had earlier in her life.
You wouldn't think Brad Pitt, designated as one of the world's sexiest people, would have skin problems, but he does. He may possess devastatingly good looks, but smooth skin he certainly does not. Like Cameron Diaz, the acne he suffered during his earlier years has left its mark in the form of scars and pockmarks. Some other stars who have become successful and glamorous despite having imperfect skin are model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, as well as actors Ray Liotta and John Malkovich.
Some other male celebrities with acne scars are Edward James Olmos, star of the television program "American Family," and Jerry Garcia, leader of the band Grateful Dead. Garcia took pains to cover his skin problem with a long, bushy beard, while Olmos seems content with a mustache. Film comedian Bill Murray also bears the scars of his battle with acne, but they have not taken away from his success in the motion picture industry.
Techniques such as airbrushing and the artful application of makeup may fool us into thinking that there aren't very many celebrities with acne. As we have learned from the examples above, this is not true. And it is somehow reassuring to learn that despite their fame and fortune, the stars are not immune to common skin problems just like the rest of us.
