Rash or acne on baby skins is by far the most common skin problem in infants. The diaper rash, commonly known as baby rash, is red or skin colored and one can easily distinguish it from normal skin. Rash is an irritating area of skin caused due to dampness, urine and feces. Rash on baby skin are harmless, if there are no other symptoms. Baby rash can also occur, because of baby\'s allergy for the diaper itself or detergents used to wash them. Baby acne is supposed to be more difficult, if the baby has an excessively, oily skin surface
Heat rash on baby skin is another problem like the diaper rash, which should not raise alarm. Like the diaper rash, heat rash too will disappear in a few days. Powder or smearing of oils are not necessary and are unlikely to help cure rash or acne on baby skin. Ointments, oils or creams, cover up or block the pores and keep skin temperature high. For heat rash, use cool cotton clothes and maintain cooler and low humidity environments. The baby acne also is a skin disorder of infants, to which much attention need not be attached with. Soft baby soap and warm water bathing is all that can soothe the baby skin.
Unlike rash, the acne on baby skin is the result of intra placental transfer of mother\'s hormones to the baby. This simply means, the yet to born baby, in the last trimester, receives mother\'s hormones. This coupled with iron and other minerals, which the baby receives from mother, results in rash or acne on baby skin. As the baby grows to 3-4 months old, the hormones will have metabolized and skin more settled and smooth, the problems disappear all by themselves.
A word of caution to observe while treating acne in your baby is to avoid direct sun light, diapers at least for some time in a day and to keep babys skin dry and clean. Also try and keep babys skin ventilated. Always take care to keep the baby\'s skin clean and dry to avoid further worsening of her skin irritation.
